This post is Divine Timing! Thank you for sharing your journey. After the holidays I'm taking Draft 8 of my novel apart, writing Draft 9, and hope to start querying in the spring. I love knowing that you self published and THAT turned into a traditional deal. You just never know, but Divine Timing does (that's the subject of my post this week so I'm noticing it).

I am currently applying for writing grants, and about to start my second revision of a book. Both are terrifying. At the heart of my fear: rejection. The chances of being successful in getting a grant are somewhere around 18%. The chances of getting a book published...? But if I don't at least try my chances are 0! It's such hard work, but I'm keeping the faith.
