Im coming to the end of my Camino de Santiago and am down to 1 set of clothes to wear and one to change in to. Donated clothes and items i don’t use on my journey. Realise how little I need but plan to buy a few new colourful clothes in Santiago to party in. Loud and proud 70 year old!
I am a little like Stephanie. I dress for comfort, convenience and efficiency. I always have a sun visor, sunglasses that will fit over my eyeglasses and use a multi compartment small purse. I also carry a fold up bag inside of the multi compartment purse for unexpected extras. I am not about displaying name brand labels but I do love to wear natural fiber clothes like cotton and linen for their comfort and environmental benefits. I am not into fashion but like classics. I avoid fast fashion. I'm 65 and feel the only person I need to impress is myself. LOL
Wow. I can so relate to comfy clothes. I didn’t even know it had a name till my daughters said it, you always wear athletic wear mom”. I guess I’m either going to walk or play pickleball or do yoga. Now I’m packing for a trip to go to the big city to visit family and friends and I want to raise the bar a bit! But not too high that I’m not comfortable.
The older I get the more I value comfort and ease in getting dressed. I have finally ditched my heels in favor of lower shoes / sneakers…yayyy! I reach for the same types of items over and over again so I went on a declutter and minimalism journey and donated about 75% of my wardrobe. I made the decision to invest in elevated basics and items that color coordinated and are comfortable but also make me feel my best. It makes getting dressed so much easier and I use my best items on any day rather than special occasions. I love the way it makes me feel and has simplified my morning routine making room for more JOY! 🩷
I love it! Using the best things on any day seems radical, but why not when you’re working with less to begin with and want to feel great at the same time. I too am big fan of ditching the heels 👠
I definitely love casual, comfortable clothes, but like to colour-coordinate as well. I like clothes to have pockets! I think Stephanie’s choices look ideal but I always try to fit too much into my bags….. and the bags have to colour-coordinate too. I never know what to wear for formal occasions!
Here in England we don’t have to cope with high temperatures (yet) but we do have to cope with wind and rain. Which can be a problem!
Every evening I think about what I will wear the next day, because I can't go to work no matter how I am dressed. The choice of clothes brings joy and comfort the next day.
Loved seeing Apfel’s colorful outfits. Not even close- but I try for some colorful pieces to brighten my, and other’s, day. Except when traveling- then, I try to be respectful of whatever culture I’m in. Loud & proud almost-70!

Lightening your load on the Camino in more ways than one. Love it!
And PS, congratulations on making it! At 70 it is a true accomplishment and inspiration.
