Tune In to Tune Up
When you pause long enough to truly see, even a flower at dusk can speak. Explore what beauty reveals when you're willing to simply be present.
“Still—in a way—nobody sees a flower—really—it is so small—we haven't the time—and to see takes time like to have a friend takes time.”
—Georgia O'Keeffe
There’s a flower that caught my eye at sunset. The afternoon light was incredible, and there it was, doing its glorious thing of simply be-ing.
I ran for my iPhone, zoomed in, and clicked.
Later, after I’d uploaded the image, I saw that it wasn’t just a single flower anymore. Hiding in plain sight was a crinkled vine, shaped like an ampersand, and the dark leaves mixed in with the light ones—sibling buds at different stages of growth. All of it together, with the flower petals against the backdrop of the late afternoon sky, took my breath away.
Who doesn’t love being stunned awake by beauty when you least expect it?
The camera helps. And the willingness to slow down and detach from outcomes.
There’s a lot of magic out there just waiting for us to sense it. And, as Georgia O’Keeffe already reminds us, “to see takes time.”
What do you notice right now that you hadn’t noticed before? If you look more closely, what is it saying?
What does it reveal about you? 1
Ahhh 🤩
