Taking a Bite of the Big Apple
What a week of art, beauty, and awe in New York City did to lift my spirit and feel light again
Hi everyone,
I have traveled around the world three times and never once spent more than two days in New York City. How can that be?
That changed recently when we swapped our home for a weeklong stay in a cute apartment in the Big Apple overlooking Central Park.
As many of you know, New York is a city of contrasts that defies logic: where intimate neighborhoods coexist with towering ones; where rolling woods and bucolic ponds sit side-by-side with edgy hardscapes; where humans of every race and nation smile at one another and seem to get along.
I’ll let the photos and video (below) tell the story.
…
New York City may be a city that doesn’t sleep, but with its world-class art, food, architectural might, and huge swath of green space cutting through the center of it all, it is truly a marvel.
Rain or shine, the fact that it can function as well as it does with so many humans occupying it makes it all the more astonishing.
Is there a place or a city that has captured your heart and imagination? Tell us about it and take us there.
Ahhh 🍎

Between Worlds: A Photo Journey
It is those moments when we’re in transit, when we’re neither here nor there, that it feels like anything is possible. In this photo journey I explore the beauty of travel’s transitional spaces and our relationship to them.

I spent time in New York in 1964 as an 18 year old AFS student. How lucky I was to have that experience so many years ago!! It changed my life for ever. Thank you Stephanie, for re-awakening all those memories!! I wish I could revisit ….. but you never know!!
