Working through a lot of emotions during the past days. It just starts to feel real, slowly. The reality sinks in. Most stressful is the fact the we don't know what is going to happen. After the insurrection I believe everything is possible. I am thankful for all the likeminded people - we share our feelings, fears, worries and coping strategies. Trees are definitely good friends, too.

Thank you, Stephanie, for the gift of solace through these two beautiful gifts of wisdom. This outcome all feels surreal and unbalancing yet with the help of reminders such as these, I can still feel the hope and belief of a more beautiful, loving time and space for our country and the world. 🙏

A beautiful Colorado sunset this evening.

That is what seems to bring me peace at this time.

It’s all I can focus on right now

Thanks so much for this, Stephanie. Especially the Alan Watts parable of The Chinese Farmer. When I lived in Santa Cruz, CA, every Sunday at 7am, they'd play an hour long lecture by Watts. Even though it was early, I'd lie in bed and listen to that wise man talk about life, philosophy and being, and I think this is when I first heard that parable. I sent it to my nephew who'd been picked up to work for the Harris campaign in early August--I'm hoping it will help heal him, too. Gracias.

Watts is so great. How wonderful that you’d got a regular Watts infusion every Sunday evening. I hope the parable brings healing to all those who worked so hard on the campaign, like your nephew. Thanks for sharing it with him. Please let him know that I so value his contribution. His efforts were not in vain.

My pleasure to share it. I think it will be helpful for him, or at least am hoping so. The Alan Watts broadcast was 7am (!) so I'd lie in bed and listen before getting up, so still kind of in a twilight zone. Perfect time to listen to his soothing voice and life lessons.

That’s so touching. We never do know do we the consequences of things good or bad. I’m going to lean into this positive message and look for the good that may come out. I already see my reactions as teachers. The anger and resentment that can come so easily are trying to teach me to live my values. So I’m passing on kindness today even though I don’t feel good.

Just seeing this now, Ruth… Sounds like you’re digging deep(er) into the kindness well… as so many of us are right now. I know from experience that doing things that make us feel love and gratitude (especially when we don’t want to) creates a powerful ripple effect.

My dear husband keeps saying .. maybe… after I share a new bad thing that might happen. It’s keeping me off the cliff of despair. 😩

I agree that trees calm the soul. There’s a hickory grove on my farm, and one special tree - I only have to feel the bark on that tree to experience peace.

There is no reason to believe that your hopes and dreams have been dashed by the recent electoral outcome. Our spirits are far more vast and expansive than earthly outcomes. Wishing you all the resources and support to find that place of high vibration to carry on and realize the future you wish to realize.

Thank you for the wise thoughts, Ree. The point is to recognize that emotions are there. We all have them in varying degrees, especially with something as highly charged as this election. We cannot get to those vast and expansive ways of being until we've named, processed, and embraced the feelings that arise first -- with as much tenderness and compassion as we can.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree, and I will admit, I have left some deep indentations and a bucket of tears at the base of a well loved tree. <3
