I can't think of any housekeeping tasks I like! I took off next week for "spring cleaning." I hate housekeeping. And so does my husband. I've let it get so out of control I don't know if it will ever be clean again. We are both having physical issues that are going to limit what we can do next week. But I digress. This morning I've been recalling people calling it a "house blessing" instead of housekeeping, so I'm trying to get in that mindset to call it that. House Blessing Week. Thank for confirming and reinforcing. And I *love* the "it all becomes a dance".
Oh, “house blessing week” is perfect!! I love that reframe, Jamie. Just one day (or week) at time of house blessing could lead to month-long house blessings. Or as I like to say, change happens slowly then all at once. Enjoy the dance! 💃
I have always liked doing dishes. Before there were dishwashers everywhere I was always welcome at a party because I gravitated to the dishes. (yes a double Cancer) I used to enjoy making sculptures stacking the dishes to dry.
As a child, my grandmother who lived with us did the laundry. And hung it to dry mostly in the southern California sun. I sun dry everything I can year round. I love that cycle and letting the elementals, sun and wind (and it is windy where I live) help with the task. Then I pile it on my bed (because I KNOW I will need the bed that night). So it always gets put away before bedtime. Maybe a shirt or something still out. But the task essentially done. Easy peasy.
Oh yes. It’s all between the ears isn’t it? I’d my attitude is filled with gratitude these “chores of life can be so beautiful. I used to dread washing the dishes when our girls were young since it seemed endless. Then I read about an old monk Father Lawrence who worked in the kitchen at the monastery and he tells of how he used that time to pray. So I lit a candle and it became my sanctuary It’s all in the perspective. I lose this often but this ritual is helping me get back to not just doing it grumpy. I’m so happy that others are finding joy in Things we GET to do. And Stephanie, smelling fresh sheets after they dry on the line is the best smell ever. I’m missing my line here in the winter.
Ever since I was a little girl, my favourite housework’s been the washing up! I love water in every shape and form, you see I’m a scorpion by star sign.
Washing up is giving fairly spectacular results in a relatively short time and I love the way it cleans not only my dishes but also my hands and nails.

I love sweeping, especially outside. The motions and the slight scratchy sound have always been calming to me
Sweeping is one of my favorites too, Dena. Hadn't noticed the scratchy sounds it makes, but it's so true.

The most wonderful housework is washing the dishes. Meditation. At the same time, new ideas are born.
Ahhh, yes ✌🏼🙏🏼

That's a great story of Father Lawrence. Thanks for sharing, Ruth.
I didn’t do him justice but this was my takeaway.

I’m a water sign too, and can so relate. Thank you for sharing, Erika.
