What Olympians Can Teach Us Mere Mortals
A look at qualities that can inspire us all
What is it about the Olympic athletes that has us riveted and glued to our screens every four years?
Is it their fierce determination and drive towards excellence?
Is it their longtime passion and devotion?
Is it their keen eye? Adaptability? Ability to make things look effortless?
Is it their willingness to fail? To go all in, experience devastating losses, and still manage to get up again and keep going?
Is it their grace under fire?
Elite athletes are a different breed to be sure. And while giving up an entire life (and childhood in many cases), is not something many of us aspire to, there is something that we can learn from watching these extraordinary humans push to become the best versions of themselves.
They show us what clarity of intent looks like. What follow-through and consistency looks like. What having a passion for something and being all in looks like.
I mean seriously, just look at Simone Biles in the video clip below. She’s got all those things going in this one balance beam exercise.
And that dismount… are you kidding!?
Is there anything more breathtaking? God knows the effort it took her to make this routine look effortless.
If you could shadow an elite athlete (or someone you greatly admire) for a day to osmose some of their masterful qualities, who would that be?
Ahhh 🏆
