Just look up and see
What is hiding in plain sight.
A world full of light.
Hi everyone,
In my last post, “The Beauty You Keep Around You” we focused on objects we love (around the house) and what they say about us.
Today I thought we could focus on other things we love (people, natural beauty) and what they reflect about us — most of which, I might add, we see but don’t see.
…
Contemplating the question, three things came out of hiding for me as I watched my latest monthly video recap* from life in the slow lane.
(I’ll let you guess what these say about me.)
…
🌺 Beauty! Last month it appears I was obsessed with flower petals: Petals fluttering in the air, petals floating in water, petals up close, petals carpeting my walks (making me feel like a rockstar), rain-drenched, mystically transparent petals becoming one with the pavement. What these petals here say about me I have no idea ;-))
🧽 Hard work. I’m in awe of people who give 110% of themselves without complaint — usually immigrants — getting paid a minimum wage to work overtime, clean up after us, do our dirty jobs … like these big-hearted Brazilian kids who did some messy yard work for us recently.
📚 Teachers! I so admire and respect great teachers who are also good listeners — like Sarah Fay of “Substack Writers at Work” (who reminds me of a younger version of myself) and Caroline Donohue, bestselling creator of “Book (& Craft) Alchemy.” The hour we spent together on a Live Chat recently — sharing our stories, wisdom, and hard-earned successes as Substack bestsellers — was pure gold.
How about you?
What do your experiences out the world say about you?
Ahhh 💜

Speaking of hiding in plain sight…
In case you missed it
Beautiful video this month! I love the walk through the pedals! The music too had me taking a deep breath. When I wake up and sit outside with my coffee like I am now I hear the birds chattering away and see the lavender in full bloom and it makes my heart relaxed. The flowers are so fleeting but so extraordinary!
Did I see that you went to see SNL? How fun! Joy is what I felt watching this and inspired to watch my own life through this lens of looking for beauty.
