Too Many Emails?
Ways to slow down the pace of The Journey Home without unplugging, or missing out
If you’re like most people who struggle to keep your inbox moderately tamed, I get it. I still struggle with mine every day.
And the conflict isn’t limited to stuff we don’t want and didn’t sign up for, but for the good stuff we did.
How do we manage the emails we want to keep reading, but don’t want to keep getting…quite…so…often? A perfect topic, which I will address in greater depth at a later date.
For now I want to address something closer to this home: this newsletter.
While I try to keep these postings of The Journey Home short — telegraphing spaciousness in all its sensory, soulful, and surprising forms in the best ways I know how — I grant that getting messages twice a week might feel like a lot for some of you.
Burden is the last thing this journey is about.
My intent is to provide a respite. A pause. A place to rest in beauty, take a breather, see things from a different perspective.
Knowing what I know about the power of intention and consistency to cultivate a spacious life, I’ve settled on twice a week as a way to keep the momentum going and the energy flowing.
If twice a week feels like too much, let’s talk about how you can manage the volume without pulling the plug; how you can lighten your load and still enjoy the journey on your terms.
There are two ways you can limit the frequency of emails while still being subscribed to The Journey Home:
1. Adjust your email preferences. Continue to get the Journey Home via email, but less often, and less of it. See steps below.
2. Get the Substack app. Enjoy all of the Journey Home articles independent of email (or in addition to it). See link at the very bottom of this page.
And of course, if you’re happy with the way things are — happy to keep traveling with me at a slow-drip…drip…drip…but regular pace — all the better, and no action is needed.
Ahhh 🏡
Adjust your email preferences
Note: Adjusting your email preferences will limit what you receive from me. This can be easily be fixed by becoming a paid subscriber. Doing so will give you unlimited access to everything even if you don’t subscribe to everything. Go the home page here to see what you can enjoy as a paid subscriber.
Here are the simple steps for reducing the frequency of emails you get from me.
Scroll to the bottom of this email and hit “Unsubscribe.” It looks like this:
This will open up a new page where you can manage your email preferences. It looks like this:
Untoggle one or more of the sections. For those of you unfamiliar with this site, all content is organized by theme and placed into one of three sections, or ‘homes’: “Spacious Reveals,” “Conscious Clearing,” and “World Views.” The most frequent emails tend to come from “Spacious Reveals.” The second most frequent from “Conscious Clearing.” Less often are “World Views,” and least often is “The Journey Home” (which is reserved for important announcements and newsletter updates, like the one you are reading now).
Want to know more about these sections or ‘homes’? Keep reading.
Thank you Stephanie for explaining all the differences again in the way you put out info. I agree that this is a place to feel spacious and not burdened! I love it that you write so succinctly and have color and fun in it too. It is sort of one of my "treat" emails.
I agree that it is hard to navigate all the good that comes into my box. I always remember that the system is designed to keep us reading and dare I say, distracted on Substack. My biggest superpower is realizing this and not shaming myself that I can't keep up. No one can or should. But we get to pick. Picking what feels good today! Thank you for talking about a serious and practical subject. Let's all help each other feel good about saying no.
I love to follow your posts, Stephanie, and am happy to be a paid subscriber. My only problem with Substack is that there are so many interesting things to read and I do get distracted and spend more time browsing everything than I really have time for…..I need to develop a bit of discipline!
