On paper, April in New England this year could look an unremarkable meh, a mixed bag. “Too wet and cold,” some would say. “Wasn’t that eclipse amazing!” others might say.
As you can see in the short video below, April for me was abuzz in the most quiet way. Mystical, moody, otherworldly — it felt like I was being dropped into an Impressionist painting.
Each day seemed to be whispering: “Slow down. What’s the rush? There is a show happening right in front of you. Can you see it?”
So slow down is what I did…
Except for one moment when I really did take a machete to my email inbox.
Yup, in one swift move I deleted everything!
In the video below you’ll see me doing it — see how striking it is to go from full to empty with the press of a single button. What you can’t see is how rattled it made me feel afterwards.😜 (More on that in a future newsletter.)
For now, enjoy this latest episode of life in the slow lane. Be sure to turn up the sound. This month’s soundtrack is beautifully calming and mesmerizing.
And PS, as you watch you may recognize the Pulitzer prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin signing books at our local library. While we’ve spotted her around town over the years, it was great to finally meet her in person and hang on her every word. Besides being whip-smart, she is so approachable and unpretentious. A real treasure.
Have a spacious May!
Ahhh 🙌🏼

New to my monthly recaps of life in the slow lane?
I make these short one-second slices-of-life videos (to great music) at the end of each month not just to mark and remember the precious fleeting moments of my life, but as a way to wake up the senses. It helps me connect with the beauty that surrounds us, the goodness in people, and the magic that happens when we let go of attachment to outcome and revel in what shows up.
