Take Five… to Gaze and Wonder
Explore a scene of admiring gazes in San Miguel de Allende in this 5-minute photo focus challenge
Hi all,
Today’s 5-minute photo focus challenge* gives you two sets of admiring gazes (or is it adoration?) in the town square in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
What does this scene telegraph? Is it watchfulness? Curiosity? Longing? … Gawking?
How does it make you feel?
Remember, the purpose of these Friday challenges is to let one image, and your study of it, give you an opportunity to pause, reflect, and notice what it stirs (or stirs up) in you.
And, to the degree that there is any discomfort involved, letting something stir you up for five minutes without doing anything to fix, change, or manage it, gives you the added benefit of clearing it.
Use the steps and prompts below to guide you. Tell us what you see in the comments. (We’d love to know!)
Ahhh 🤩

Take Five — Gazing
Set a timer for five minutes. Study the photo above. Notice the urge to rush and simply breathe into any resisting impulses. As you sit with it, what thoughts, sensations, or ah-has arise? As you sit with it even longer, perhaps uncomfortably so, what do you see that you didn’t see at first?
Use the prompts below to guide you and share your impressions.
What do you see in this photograph?
How does it make you feel? What does it convey? Reveal? Remind you of?
What does it feel like to look up to somebody else, or to be looked up to?

Making the Bed Every Day
What smoothing out bunched-up sheets can do to smooth out bunched-up resisting behaviors.
First, the couple reminded me of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia and his wife ( p.s. : if you don't know who this is please feel free to google his name). Thoughts of him filled me with anger, sadness and helplessness. The little girl emanates curiosity. She is not afraid to stare or to "look at" them. Reminds me of myself.
I also was reminded of the fact that men may look up to someone, but that might not last too long - soon the object of devotion might have a hard time to get her 2 cents in.
Oh, the PASSION! I see so much sensual feelings in the dancers and what strikes me is that this little girl is seeing this and is mesmerized. What a great example to our kids that sensual feels are good and add to our world and not to be ashamed of them. I am inspired to dance closer to my man tonight! Thanks Stephanie! Pausing is soooo rich!
