Some people collage. Some people quilt.
I put photos together and sometimes make movies out of them. Those of you who follow me @spaciousway on Instagram know this already. I make short videos to remind me of moments that bring me joy.
In a world that is moving at hyper speed, it is so easy to forget what you did yesterday let alone last month. That amazing dinner you had with friends… wait, when was that…?
Or those early days of Covid when we thought it would never end? Remember those? When Zoom seemed impossible to figure out. When cloth face masks seemed like the best option to avoid getting sick. When sheltering in place became a thing … for years? Even that seems like another lifetime ago, buried under the noise and busyness of our days….
…just flying by.
One of the tools that helps me to remember the moments that matter is a video diary called 1 Second Everyday. It is an app that gives you a place to upload a daily photo or a video snippet of your life. Together these daily snapshots become a beautiful tapestry of your life that you can download and share.
I love making monthly recaps to remember and celebrate these precious and fleeting moments. It also helps me remember the goodness of people, the beauty that surrounds us, and the magic that happens when we let go of attachment to outcome and revel in what shows up.
And when I can get the right music to match the mood of these visual journeys, I’m in heaven.
The one below captures a typical summer month in our home in New England.
