In Praise of Those Who Serve
Give your servers some love, and it may come pouring back…for real
One of my absolute favorite restaurant experiences happened recently on a trip to Paris. Chez Janou — known for its big bowls of unlimited quantities of chocolate mousse slapped onto a plate in the center your table — is a super-popular, super-crowded, cozy-table restaurant that you have to squeeze into (literally), and out of (if you’re lucky).
While the food was as delicious as ever, the big surprise, and real star of the show was our amazing server, Cherie.

Yup, that’s Cherie, our sweetheart server who carried the night and carried us with her.
You never know what can happen when you take the time to acknowledge your server… really see them… and pour a little extra love their way.
The love might even come pouring back to you three-fold — for real — as it did for us.
I mean seriously, when have you been freely offered not one, but three different French liqueurs to taste after a meal… just because…?
Exactly.
Bottom line:
Thank your servers. Thank your servers. Thank your servers!
Appreciate your mail carrier, flight attendant, hairdresser, doctor, UPS delivery guy…
Beam some love to grocery clerk, the pharmacist, the workers doing thankless jobs like putting down asphalt on a hot day or picking up the trash on a freezing cold one…
They may actually deliver in ways you never could possibly have imagined.
And it takes what, two seconds of your presence?
Two seconds that can change the world.
