“To feel sufficient, to be satisfied with what we have: Chisoku in Japanese.
Of course, by some measures, there’s never enough. We can always come up with a reason why more is better, or better is better, or new is better, or different is better.
Enough becomes a choice, not a measure of science.
The essence of choice is that it belongs to each of us. And if you decide you have enough, then you do.
And with that choice comes a remarkable sort of freedom. The freedom to be still, to become aware and to stop hiding from the living that’s yet to be done.”
—Seth Godin, “And maybe it’s enough”
Indeed, as Godin suggests, there is a lot of living that’s yet to be done.
The real question becomes:
What will it take to let go of the need to have more than we need?
Ahhh 🏡
Love this: Enough becomes a choice, not a measure of science". It's so easy to get caught up in the possibilities the future holds and all the perfection options that are offered on social media to add more when I really don't need more in my life. Truly the CHOICE is MINE. Realizing and Believing that is incredibly powerful! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
I love this post!! We are getting bids at the moment to fix the crumbling stucco on the outside of our home. The contractors all say "now is the time to rearrange windows, entry door etc. My mind goes wild with possibilities. When i think of the mess and redecorating inside and my imagination soars and also gets o overwhelmed at the same time.... but then i get pulled back to a state of enoughness and realize we have enough and it is a beautiful calming feeling.
