Butterfly Lessons
Moving through the messy middles of change: what caterpillars can teach us
I came across a time lapse video on Facebook recently that made me gasp out loud. It showed up on my feed one day when I was struggling to make sense of the chaotic times we live in.
The one-minute clip is of a butterfly coming out of its chrysalis. You’ll find the link to it below (along with another version if Facebook is not your thing).
Like the caterpillar, I’d like to think that our human family is going through some big messy metamorphosis: a busting out of old, dense paradigm structures that feel increasingly tight and painful as they get squeezed, released, and transformed into whole new ways of being and relating. Not a pretty process, but a necessary one.
For those of you who might be feeling discouraged or anxious about the times we live in, may the little video below offer some perspective on what it takes to move through the messy middles of change…
and finally, fully… fly.
Ahhh 🦋
